A BrightMinds, we have three main semesters:
- Fall: September to December
- Winter: December to March
- Spring: March to June
followed by our shorter and more intense Summer semester.
The Winter semester ☃️ is our most popular semester among part-time as well as full-time students.
While all our main semesters have 11 weeks of instruction and 1 week of examination, the Winter semester is slightly longer as students have (almost) three weeks of Winter holiday (this year, it will be December 22 to January 7). With courses remaining accessible during the holiday, students have a unique opportunity to get ahead in their studies as well as spend more time on sections of the course that demands more of their time and effort. In addition, students who take advantage of the early bird registration for the Winter courses, receive two weeks in advance complimentary access. With more time available in the course, full time and part-time students can take more demanding courses such as Advanced Functions (MHF4), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Physics (SPH4U), English (ENG4U) and literacy (OLC4O) during this longer semester.
Another great advantage of the Winter semester, especially for Grade 12 student is that they can complete their college/university requirements ahead of the April deadline. With the Winter semester ending in early March and final marks being reported shortly after, Grade 12 students who complete courses during the Winter semester with BrightMinds Online School have nothing to worry as their mark will arrive on time to OUAC or OCAS, ahead of the Spring deadline.
Winter semester is also particularly popular among our part-time students because, after a few weeks of attending their home-school (public or private), they have a better understanding of which courses they want to take online.
For those of you interested in completing a Winter course with BrightMinds, be sure to take advantage of early bird discount as well as the complimentary two weeks in advanced access. You can select and register for your course of choice on our website. We hope to see you in class this coming Winter.
